Emic speech board to amplifier

·I have an Emic speech board that is connected to small 2" 8 ohm speaker. The speaker is connected to the SP- and SP+ pins. The volume is low, no matter what I do. I would like to connect an Emic speech board to an amplifier.
·
The Parallax instructions talk of a Pin named "AOUT". Is this where I connect an amplifier? ·Do I connect a wire to the GND ? ·The instructions say to "that the AOUT pin must capacitively coupled to the load", what does this mean? Any diagrams or information would be helpful.

Have you tried adjusting the volume on the EMIC? Here's my code for a BS2, EMIC, and TSL230. When the run button is pressed, the light level from the TSL230 is read and announced through the EMIC. I had the same issue with volume so I did two things: 1) As skylight suggests, I mounted the speaker in a pill bottle and the volume doubled easily. 2) I increased the volume to max on the EMIC. Sounds great now. Sorry, no pictures of the setup

You can tie AOUT to a small amp (like an LM386) if you want some serious volume. But a proper speaker enclosure will *always* go a long way to making sound output sound better and increasing volume.
