Powering a BS1USB

Anybody know if the BS1USB has a voltage regulator on it? I want to use it independant of the computer.
Or, to put it another way, can I hook up the power input pins on the USB to something greater than 5v, like a 6 volt battery pack.
Thanks
Jim-

I don't believe it has its own voltage regulator other than the control circuitry in the FTDI USB chip which is more of a current limiter and power switch than a voltage regulator.

That makes sense. I checked the resistance accross the +5 USB pin and Vdd and it was 0.3 ohms so I'm thinking there's not much in between.
    Thanks.
