ESAB Robot memory tape drive retrofit

Hi,
·Here is a photo of my newest toy·,A ESAB welding robot and I·just received it today. I powered it up and everything seems to be working except the tape drive is all jamed up. It needs the tape drive remember programs after you teach it. I've included a pinout of the tape drive I/O's ,would it be possible to use a propeller to save and read to a SD card and comunicate the info to the controller?

    I have robot envy!· I bet you could do it, but you'd need to figure out the protocol...· If you don't have it, that would probably be the hard part...

    $1500 and I thought it was a steal even if it didn't work. Everything seems to work on it except the tape drive . You put into teach mode ,move it around and it remebers the exact moves you make with it !
