Portable power supply for propeller board?

Hi, does anyone know of a way to create a battery powered supply for the protoboard? I'm relatively new to the propeller chip scene and I'd appreciate it if someone were able to post instructions for creating one. Thank you.

* Using a battery of 5V or less and a boost regulator (DC/DC step-up).
* Using a battery of more than 7 V, so you just power your board with something similar to the provided power supply. If your battery has some 12V or so, you may use a regulator like the ones proposed in the other thread by Timothy:

The second option is easier. The fisr one will have to provide some 7V o use the on-board regulators or you may choose to replace them with a boost switching regulator or similar.
edit: Here are the pics of my setup, protoboard with accessory kit + hacked sd socket, on top of a 9.6v nicd battery pack soldered in parallel with the dc in jack, the wall wart I am using is the 12v 200ma one that
came with the battery, added a barrel jack for plug in. the pack is strapped to the perfboard and the rubber feet that came with the protoboard.
the battery seems to add just enough weight to keep it in place when using the ps2 and vga ports

for hours off a 9v battery. (2-3 hours if you use VGA)
Made an adapter from a dead DC adapter and a 9v battery clip.

Its a bit low on voltage so I get 1.5-2 hours using VGA, if you went to the 6 AA battery holder it should last longer, but my charger only does 4 so I just swap 2 sets of 4.
Total Cost about $20 if you buy the batteries and charger. The upside is you can use it on any proto board you have.

Tip- Mine has a type K printed on it, but just take the board with you to check, I think its this one.
