Question - Using Vdd instead of Vin on SX48/52 Protoboard
I am using an SX48/52 Protoboard (SX52 installed) and want to use a larger current 5vdc power supply than the wall transformer that normally plugs into the protoboard (limited to 1 A). Looking at the schematic, it looks like all I need to do is connect my 5vdc higher current power supply to the Vdd connection and just don't use the wall transformer for the protoboard. Before I was using both power sources with a common ground wire. I did notice the the LED would stay on or glow when both were used.
I am concerned that I would not be able to use my SX Key if I use the 5vdc higher current power supply going to Vdd. Is this a problem for the protoboard? I see that Vdd goes to a CAP in parrallel with the output of the voltage regulator (1 A) mounted on the protoboard. Any problem with feedback? Just don't want the SX-Key to get dammaged.

Thanks.

You will want to make sure that you have a solid 5V supply for your project. The extra current capacity shouldn't be a problem. It will only take what it needs.
