am i an idiot. probably. i used the demo code on my parallax gps and it always says that there is an error and that there is no gps data being received. what am i doing wrong. i hook it up exactly as the text shows.

Is the GPS unit outdoors or near a large window? They don't receive very well if they are indoors or if their view of the satellites is blocked.

Is the red light on the side of the GPS blinking, or solid red?

Until it is solid red, you don't have a "lock" and you won't have valid data. It can take quite a while to get that first lock: power the thing up and then go do something else, or you'll have a "watched pot never boils" problem.
