Thanks, Jazzed. I visited the site, looks like the update lag is 24 hours.

Guess it was a timing issue. Clicking on the url reveals a bigger map with this data:

"The above map depicts: 35 visits from 19 Jul 2008 to 20 Jul 2008
This map is normally updated daily (latest: 2008-07-20 06:49:59 GMT)"

OBC, you should update the details like the maps name, "my map" isn't that helpful.

Status update:

Clustermaps seems to only measure the hits (and locations) on the hosted server.
Somehow I got the impression it would monitor the forum ... bad assumption, but nice idea.
My spam volume went up considerably. I'm certain it was because Clustermaps.
I used a blocked "email forwarding service" for the Frapper map, so that wasn't it.

Jazzed,

Are you sure Clustermaps sold your email address to spammers? If so that's bad news. Here's their Email privacy statement from

clustrmaps.com/legal.htm#terms:

[snip]

Use of email addresses

In order to use this service, a ClustrMaps user must first provide their name and email address, in addition the web address ('URL', or Uniform Resource Locator) of the site on which they wish to display visitor locations. This information is only used by ClustrMaps to send out your first login password, and in case we need to contact ClustrMaps users about changes to the Service or to the Terms of Service. It is not used for any other purpose, and will not be passed on to any others.

Coincidence possibly. I used to get a few spams a day, now it's up to 25.

Hippy, I would stop using email entirely if that happened to me. How do you manage to get anything done?

@ jazzed : Spamihilator reduces it to a manageable trickle which gets through to the email client. Most of it ( 99%+ ) comes from just one web account because the ISP forces a URL of http://www.name.isp.com and then passes on all mail to anything@name.isp.com - They couldn't have made it any easier for the spammers smile.gif

Most annoying is that Spamihilator can spot bulk mailings yet it seems my ISP is incapable of running its own bulk mailing filters. I only keep the account going because the site's linked to by quite a lot of people.
