Im looking for a touchscreen LCD module, not much out there, in my search I've come across 2 componets I think might work together, but I dont know much about LCDs other than serial commands.

So I can match up most of them
Controller 47 (Disoff) to Display 5 (Disp off)
C48 (FLM) to D6 (First Line Marker)
C51 (Data Latch) to D8 (Data Latch)
C53 to D9 (Clock Shifting Signal) to (Data Shift) ???? Is that right
    C54-C57 to D1-D4 (Display Data)

    Leaves me with these unknowns
C40 VEE - LCD Negative Bias
    C49 YSCL - Y driver Latch
    C50 LCD backpanel Bias Signal
    C52 XECL - X driver control signal

D10 VDD - power supply for logic
    D11 VSS GND
D12 VEE Power Supply for Logic
D13 V0 Operating Voltage LCD Driving
    D14 Front pannel ground

Some of those I get, but others I dunno, like the X and Y drivers

So are there any Gurus that can tell me, is it a decent gamble to see if these two will work together?

I emailed the company that sells the controller, they said it "might" work, but were really pushing thier controller \ display combos, which I hadnt even seen.

This is not a bad deal, its another $140 ($275), basically a complete package, LCD, controller, Buzzer, 3 LED's Backlight transformer, connectors for the LCD and touchscreen, a nice connector for the external connections. It also comes with thier software package for GUI design.

I noticed something going through the datasheets for it, This is the pinout for the board\LCD connector, it is exactly backwards from the Ebay screen, so I'm quite positive the Ebay screen would work just fine, problem is I would have to try and connect to the flat ribbon connectors.
    (controller pinout)
    1 GND
    2 VEE
    3 VEE
    4 GND
    5 VDD
    6 CP
    7 LP
    8 NC
    9 FLM
    10 DisOFF
    11 XD3
    12 XD2
    13 XD1
    14 XD0

So I guess I have to make a decision. $140 more for a cleaner package with a couple of leds and a buzzer, and most notably, the software, or maybe $20 shipped for the ebay screen. Anyone who is looking for a touchscreen interface, this looks like a winner, a TON of neat features in the controller, a must see if you're in the market.

Okay, whats going on here, yesterday I know someone posted something with a datasheet, but when I came back to look closer, it was gone, google even chached it, it comes up in a google search. Now PF says the thread was updated by Franklin at 6:59AM, but there are no posts. Wierd...

Anyway, im still deciding. I think the hardest part for me using the Ebay screen would be connecting the FFC cables, I did a quick search and cant find any connectors.

BTW, if people are wondering why im talking to myself so much, I see people are looking, so someone might be interested, and I hate when I search for a problem only to find an old thread that someone never posted thier solutions.

I think that this might be your best way to go you have every thing you need and see if one of the ones on ebay will work or not

Yea I think im going to call the manufacturer Monday morning, make sure it comes with the software and order it direct from them, they're only 50 miles away from me, I should get it pretty quick, it looks really nice, even has dropdown lists and radio buttons, and much more. Im quite in the dark as to how to use those things, unless it sends some text out to the micro when you select something.

Bottom line, that program looks like it would knock weeks off my project. I think this is going to go into a home automation project. Starting with thermostat, but I'll have tabs, one for security, one for some other stuff, Ive got a BS2p40, and if this thing only takes the 2 serial lines, it will leave 40 pins open for me to work with.

Well I may not come up with much, they pulled the old bait and switch on me. Now the module with software costs $450. I was told personally, and according to thier website, the module comes with software for $275.

They asked if I wanted to cancel my order, I tol them I was very disapointed and asked them if they would include the software since I was mislead, and I really did spend a lot of time last weekend reading all the data sheets and instruction manuals they had on it.

    Thier email to me:

    Adam,

The Mosaic-M320240570T Graphical Display Kit is a complete graphical display solution that envelopes the Serial LCD 320 x 240 Monochrome Graphic Display Controller (GLC-M21), the GooyLCD IDE interfacing software, EVL-GML106 with RS232 interface, and a 5.7” 320X240 pixels STN LCD with CCFL blue backlight and 4-wire touch screen.
    http://microcontrollershop.com/product_info.php?products_id=2426

    All for only US$450.00.

For just the software, LCD display, and the LCD controller:

GUI LCD Controller Module w/ 320x240 STN (Super Twisted Nematic) - US$275.00
    http://microcontrollershop.com/product_info.php?products_id=2418

The product you mention below could in fact work with the the Serial LCD (320 x 240) Monochrome Graphic Display Controller (GLC-M21), but you will not have the GooyLCD IDE software, which is an excellent software tool for creating a professional graphical user interface on your PC without the need for constant downloading or trial and error sessions. And, as you mention, it is a gamble. With our products, we provide technical assistance to ensure our customers get their purchased products working out of the box.

I would recommend you choose from one of the above products, which may very well save you time and money in the long run. In addition, we have a 15 day satisfaction guarantee with our products. Within 15 days of receiving the products, if you are not satisfied, you may return the merchandise for a full refund minus shipping costs.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to follow up with us.

    Best Regards,

Well the manufacturer contacted me (I had been in contact with them elsewise, and told me the resaler asked what they could work out, the manufacturer tells me they offered 1/2 off the software, we'll get into that, I got a response from the reseller, they will kindly sell me the software for $85, it doesnt take a genius to realize that 1/2 of 150 is not 85. Sounds like a first rate place. Their website still says the software is included. If its still up there next week, I'm contacting the BBB and I'll be seeking the software for free since they are intentionally misleading people.

If I do get it, I will be ordering directly from the manufacturer.

This PLC controller uses the same screen and uses a Basic language similar to Parallax Basic. they do sell the screens on their own and the software is free.

This keeps getting better, now the manufacturer is renigging on thier advertized return policy
    30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
Any Haidar Technology product may be returned
within 30 days of purchase for a full refund of the
price paid for the product being returned. If you are
not satisfied, or chose the wrong product by mistake,
you do not have to keep it.
    http://www.haidartechnology.com/uploads/Brochure_GUI_New.pdf

I told them I would accept thier offer of 1/2 off the software, and evaluate the product, if I didnt meet my needs, I would return it per thier return agreement. They are saying it is at thier discresion, they will not refund software, and they would not refund the product for me in my instance.

I am seriosuly considering contacting the BBB and any other agencies and reporting all of this false advertisement.

Well the reseller did finally change thier website. I am still considering the LCD display, the manufacturer has been very communicative and diplomatic in the situation, I cant say I feel like im beeing screwed now, things just havent gone my way.

I will keep you updated. It would be a very interesting product, perhaps I have been spoiled by the Simmetry displays, they came preloaded with all those interfaces, powerful utilities, and were really cheap. These are something like 4x bigger than those though.

John, I'll look at that product.

Thats looking pretty neat, I still havent had too much time to look at it, but all the software is free, and it looks like it has its own micro built in, so it could handle some of the functions. Actually, Im wondering if I even need a stamp or other micro if I use that display.

I'll give·a nice review of features and performance of whatever I use, as of right now it looks like I will be making a decision this weekend.

Ive got one other choice http://www.smarthome.com/78550.html·at $90. The visible dimensions seem to be only a little smaller, but resolution is only 160x80
