surplus supply of 4 or 6-axis motors/swivels?

Is there a cheap supply of heavier duty surplus 4 or 6-axis motors or swivels?

I want to make a robotic arm and rather than buying servos/gearboxes/etc, I figure there must be some sort of surplus that I can buy off ebay or similar.

Yaw and pitch are essential, roll optional.

I figure I can interface to servos/motors/etc

Some ideas:
-webcams have this to a small degree, including focus, aren't there any heavier duty versions of this?

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance.

    Henry99,

I'm a fan of the motors that are·used in automotive applications.· I've got a power seat back motor that runs at·6 RPM that has unstoppable torque.· Just think of how much torque you would need to bring the seat back up with some 300 pound lump in the seat.··Many of the newer components have encoders and position sensors because a lot of manufacturers have memory seats.·

They're designed to be quiet and durable.· Ebay has a bunch of them.· They're pretty cheap considering the torque available.· Power window motors and wiper motors·are very nice for driving wheels.
