Oh, phew! When I saw "arms" in your title, I envisioned killer robots with AK47s or something similarly lethal! wink.gif

Those are good deals. I had a Armatron once...

The OWI looks pretty neat too and a good bit more advanced.

Would it be possible to control the OWI arm with a basic stamp?

I certainly hope that the BS2 can control the Robotic Arm.· I ordered it as well as the USB controller last week.· I'll let you all know if I have any luck marrying them with the BS2.

I haven't received my OWI arm yet, but I'm almost certain that it has simple motorized joints but no encoders/feedback; that's how their previous model worked. If that's true you can switch the open-loop DC motors on & off using a Stamp or controller, but without any position feedback. It would be nice if they designed it so you could easily swap in servos for their gearboxes, but I seriously doubt it. It will be a good challenge to add feedback to this unit!

BTW, the low $30 price is fairly negated by their inflated $20 shipping charge, so I ordered several to minimize shipping damage. I'll have a couple extra units I'll sell locally (Craigslist Los Angeles) for $40 if anyone wants to come pick one up in Torrance.

I received my OWI arm kit this afternoon.· Its really a nice high quality kit.· It took me a couple hours to assemble (I really enjoy putting things together) and I'm pleased with the results.· It does indeed use simple·3 volt DC motors and controling·them with a Stamp should be pretty simple using anything that can switch·3 volts at moderate current.· I won't receive the USB module until next week and it is also a kit so it will take me a bit of time to assemble.· I'll let you know how that works when I have it in operation.
