Hello Im using a PIC16C57C for my PBASIC needs.
Im debating on buying some PIC16f72-I/SO,
now looking at the datasheets·I see pinout is different
and it uses flash instead of EEPROM.

Would this be a good sustitute?

The BASIC Stamp interpreter firmware is not available separately from the chips and modules Parallax sells that contain it. So the short answer is, "No."

I bought it a couple months ago since my original BS2 blewup and I didn't have $50 to pull out my @$%
I bought this and it has done very well for a fraction of the price

I did see that it says

"This includes a 28-terminal Parallax Basic Interpretter"

So my original question still answered

This company buys pre-programmed PIC16C57C chips from Parallax and resells them. Parallax also sells them as Stamp OEM processors. In DIP form, Parallax sells them for $12 each in small quantities. If you buy 1000s, they're about 1/2 that price.

Stamp models later than the BS2 were made with the SX microprocessors, again with proprietary firmware pre-programmed into them. Parallax sells complete Stamp modules as well as the pre-programmed processor chips. They also sell and support the SX itself with a number of programming tools including a Basic compiler that accepts a modified version of the Basic used in the Stamps (called SX/B) which compiles to SX assembly language. This is a very nice way to use the SX and there are a number of books, magazine columns, and tutorials on its use with SX/B and with assembly language.

    P. H. Anderson has (let's hope) included an OEM BS2 chip from Parallax with their product. Again, the answer to your original question is, "No."

Thanks Fellas I'm a cheapskate when I can be, but why throw away money?
I do it everytime I start my car; don't need another reason.
