I came across this SONY LCD - ACX705AKM for $20.00 in Electronic Goldmine.
Can I use this with the Prop if so-DO I need any extra hardware to connect it to the prop.I have a Parallax Proto Board with
a VGA /keyboard/mouse ports.
If I can use the sony - LCD - I would appreciate some guidance.

Thanks,

Siri

It looks pretty complex. You need several power supplies plus a high speed clock (which the Propeller can generate) plus a lot of pins for the pixel data (RBB 3 bits each + hSync + vSync). Without a lot of work, you can't use the built-in video generator. You'll have to write your own video driver in assembler regardless.

    Mike,

That is far beyond my skills.

    Thanks,

The only thing about that display that stumps me is I can't find a soldering iron tip small enough to
solder the pins which are closer together than the ones on the Prop on the Proto Board, and it
looks like I'd be soldering hair-guage magnet wire to it if I could anyway.

Otherwise, I think it would probably work with a VGA driver... but without the DAC resistors.

have you looked at the psone lcd like at http://starfox.ucc.asn.au/carcomp/serio_lcd.htm.
You can tap into it with VGA, and drive it at full resolution which is 640x480.

They are going one ebay right now for arround $20 if you catch them.
Of course, it will cost you another $10 to ship, but $30 for a full VGA screen is pretty good.

These are now $5.00 until Oct 22 at the goldmine.
Here is a link to an AVR based project.
