connector types ide,idc,ids ......
hi all,
i'm always getting confused about the connector types when i order,
most of the time i end up scavenging
you know the type we use most often
.100 pin spacing single or double row... the hard drive cables seem to have the required spacing, but the wires look awful flimsy.
is there a place with a good disertion on these connectors ?
for example , if i want to run some stepper motors and i have a .100 pin header, i really dont think a hard drive cable will do.

thanks for lookin

It is better to use connectors that have only a single row. These work with almost any DIY hobby boards.· There are cable harnesses that come with the .1" spacing, but I see them there at 2.54 [maybe mm].· These provide up to 16 separate·20 gauge wires.· Unlike a ribbon cable, you can move the wires around and often simplify your board designs.
How so, instead of pin one input having to go to pin one output with a ribbon cable, you can have pin one input go to any output pin.· These become a kind of adapter and quite flexible.
Molex is very good for hefty power.· Hole size and space of each series is different, not just 0.1"
