Transformer Question
I have a question I'm hoping someone here can help me with (not so much Stamp related at this moment). I'm working on a project that use an external 2.5" hard drive enclosure. This enclosure can be powered via a computer USB bus (5V). The power specs for the enclosure say "Bus power (power consumption must under 5V/1A)". Rather than using power from the USB port (bus), I would like to use a wall (AC/DC) transformer to power it. I have a transformer here that says 5V - 1.5A.
My understanding is this transformer will work even though it says 1.5A and the enclosure power specs say "...under 5V/1A". Am I correct to say that the unit will only pull the current required even though the transformer could provide up to 1A if needed? This of course would not be desired as it could damage the unit, but I just wanted to ask if anyone has anything against using a 5V/1.5A wall transformer for a device that say 5V/1A.
Thank you very much,
Nelson
