For those new to electronics and embedded systems programming, we recommend "What's a Microcontroller?" as a first tutorial.· It is available as a free download, so you can look through it before you decide if this is the way you want to go.· There are two kit options that include this book and all the necessary hardware, the BASIC Stamp Discovery Kit and the BASIC Stamp Activity Kit.
If you are interested in·robotics, an alternative starting point is·our Boe-Bot Robot Kit, which·comes with the "Robotics with the Boe-Bot" text.· Again, the book is a free download if you want to check it out first.
All of these kits use a BASIC Stamp 2 microcontroller.· You can see our complete line of tutorials using the BS2 on our Stamps in Class Flowchart.
If your engineering background quickly leads your imagination to more complex projects, you might consider our multiprocessing Propeller chip as a next step; we have Propeller Education Kits and free lab downloads to help folks get started.
I hope this helps you choose,
