VU Meter

So I wanted to use a BS2 to make a vu meter, can this be done? I had two options.... I wanted to pulse an LED to the music or drive an analog meter, like this one www.designnotes.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=AIM60005&Category_Code=

I'd like to "tap" it off of a regular 1/8" headphone output.

Any thoughts on this?

I am not sure about using a stamp for this but if you buy a normal line level VU meter you can drive that directly from any line level audio source. If you are driving it with the headphone jack you probably would need to pad the audio down some. If you want to make a digital LED VU Meter there is a chip available that will drive up to 10 LED segments from one chip. I dont remember the number directly but I am sure with a little digging you can come up with it on the internet, or someone else will jump in with it...

Agreed.· Look for an LM3916 or LM3915, LED bar-graph driver ICs for audio applications.
