GPS interface to Propeller

I have a Parallax GPS unit and would like to connect it to 2 arbitrary pins on my propeller.·
(unless some pins are better than others for this).
The GPS unit has 4 pins, I can handle VSS and VDD.
The other two are "raw" which unconnected is pulled high (for smart mode)
and Serial IO.· I may want to send to this pin, but, usually I will be receiving.
My concern is should there be resistors or capacitiors between the GPS and the Propeller.
And if I choose to go NOT smart mode all the time, I could connect the "raw" pin to VDD. (using a resister?)
And of course values for the additional parts and where I should have found the info.
Thanks to everyone in the forum

any signal going INto the prop make sure to put a 1k resistor between it and the prop pin.

Toward the bottom of the first page of the following thread is some information on interfacing the GPS Module with the Propeller. I hope this helps. Take care.
