Some times ago i found this little handy - fully assembled -·board
by searching the internet.

I decide me to order this,
because the price of 55USD for the complete board·seems·very interesting.

Yesterday arrived this Board and of course i just must try it out smile.gif .

So i must say i was very positive surprised !!!

It works fine and w/o Problems !

Has anybody made some experiences before with this board ?

What do you think about it?

    @55USD I wouldn't be surprised if it's been assembled in some Thai sweat-shop :-(

Other than that; it appears to be a demo-board-alike, without the breadboard (or proper sound amp?) <edit>, or USB</edit>.

Probably works fine - but for how long...

You'll always have as many take-offs as landings, the trick is to be sure you can take-off again ;-)

Can't recall the last time I saw a Thai sweat-shop with a wave soldering machine.

    Hi simonl,

okay maybe you´re right, there is no soundamp and no USB, but i think
its an easy and inexpensive start to beginning with an Prop-Chip !

Long time i hesitate to buy an Hydra or XGS, because i´m not sure, is it the right thing for me?
So i found this ET-Board and for this price i decide me to start with an Prop.

So i think you should see it also from the positive side, because
the Propeller comes alive with the community here and if more people
are able to work with it, ·the Propeller also becomes "more wellknown"

And that this board was made in thailand, why should i damn this?
(I´m self an electrician and think, the quality of this board isn´t bad.)

btw.: i´ll also buy an Hybrid board soon , so i hope you see, i´m looking
    for quality too wink.gif .

    Greetings,
    andYMan

Regarding this board, see this thread:

    http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&m=268789

    Some of my comments:

    * Why only a 32k EEPROM? Even the $18USD protoboard has 64K allowing for 32k user storage space.

    * Socketing a DIP EEPROM would have been nice as well.

    * I would have put both pull-up resistors on the EEPROM I2C interface and included a 0.1" header for external connection of I2C devices with the EEPROM.

    * No way to program it with the prop-plug?

    Regards, David

Reading my post back; it does seem a bit negative - sorry, my bad! I was just giving my initial thoughts on what I saw.

Hey, if the board works for you, that's great, and I'm all for getting more people into Prop-world smile.gif I just hope the board stays reliable - an unreliable board would give the Prop a bad name I think.

    Hybrid - now you're talking smile.gif

What I find most interesting is the inclusion of a switching regulator for the 5V rail. I guess they wanted to make sure nothing on it got hot, which is important if it's to be housed in a non-ventilated enclosure in a warm climate. It's certainly an interesting design that could be assembled by low-tech means — not to say that it was, of course. Nonetheless, the small number of SMD components suggests those could be soldered by hand. The rest can be done by dip soldering — no wave soldering needed. It's looks like a clean layout, too.

With a 100 % reliability record so far, it's more reliable than the Parallax Proto board. 8-)

I order my ETT material via www.futurlec.com and shipping from Australia to Netherlands is EUR 5. FIVE euro! Within NL, shipping for a box is SEVEN euro! And this one is airlifted across the globe (20.000 km) for less!

Here is a supplier in the EU: http://www.steitec.de/base-px32-p-62.html
