Just got my logitech that uses a gameport. I have been googling about joysticks and the gameport pinout. How would I go about say displaying the values of the axi of the joystick? I have looked at the PS2 Controller, but am not that knowledgable of assembly.

If it uses a gameport Dsub 15 from memory, then the interface is purely analogue. You should have up to 4 analogue axis available to you there. You will need some form of A/D converter to be able to read those with the prop (or the built in sigma/delta, or an RCTIME style). Either way it's not difficult really.

I've been looking for old analogue joysticks but have been unable to find any locally. It's all USB these days.

Now I've got the PS2 stuff interfaced, at least I have access to a cheap(ish) joystick with some analogue input that's easy to interface.

Some of the joysticks actually use a serial format over the gameport. Have a look at this website atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~vojtech/joystick/specs.txt
