Integrated circuit?

Does anyone know what integrated circuits Kevin Herron used on his Basic Stamp 1 project board? If you dont know what I'm talking about, check www.kevinherron.com for some better pictures. Pretty sure I have what he used in mind, but I cant see the pictures well enough to be sure. Thanks -

Just in case you are wondering, some of the 'integrated circuits' that the BasicStamps use are nothing more that two or three transistors in one package. If you need to, you can used individual transistors instead. Thing just won't be as compact.
