how do you get a picture in your post?

I'm trying to put a picture of my robot in a post -new thread,as show and tell and reference for any willing to help .I have used the attachment manager and uploaded the image but it just dosent apear in the post .
I also tried useing insert image but it either puts a blank image or an icon of the insertimage button or it shows a popup wanting a url and I dont know its url
the picture is uploaded and if I knew its url/handel I can put it in arrrrrrrg!
can someone help?

The attachment manager has worked for me. Maybe there's something wrong or incompatible with your picture. I've always uploaded JPG format pictures.
