blancing bot parts

I would like to build a blancing robot but im not sure what sensors to use.· The two types of sensors I am debating on whether or not to use are either·ir distance sensors or an rc helicopter/huminoid gyro.··But what I dont know is if you can use those types of gyros with basic stamp, and if I should use ir distance sensors instead if so·where is the best place to get them?

    You can go either route. IR or ultrasonic will let you know when the bot is not perpendicular to the surface on which it is standing but not the angle and a gyro by itself will drift over time. the most used way is to combine a gyro and an accelerometer to give better feedback.
