Super Carrier vs Board Of Education?

I'm trying to get back into the Basic Stamp hobby. I used to have pretty good experience with the BS2 and some AVR ASM.

The recent blowout sale of BS2e's is what brought up my interest in basic stamps agian.

Right now i have a Basic Stamp Home Work board(built in BS2) and a new BS2e chip.

I'm looking for a development board for the BS2e.

For some reason the USB BOE is very attractive even though its a slightly pricey $70.

The other board I was looking at is the Super Carrier board. Its only $17 and seems to have all the features of the BOE in a slightly different form and without a breadboard. I plan on sticking one of the small breadboards in the proto area of the Super Carrier if I go this route.

Is the BOE really worth the extra $53? What are the advantages?

Treat me as a newb in this case.

I've been messing around with my homework board blinking LED's and such....and So far I look forward to using Stamps agian.

PS: The EASE of use of Basic Stamps on my Mac Mini(OS X) is really killer! (I was researching other 24PIN Basic micros and NONE have the Mac support of Stamps!! roll.gif )

The BoE has the power switch, the servo headers, and the two SIP headers --·for P0-15 and Vin, Vdd, Ground.

The Super Carrier can accept a·BS1-IC.

Both have the AppMod header (there's not much AppMod stuff).

Cool. I think I'm going to go the Super Carrier route. Pretty much the same board but a lot cheaper.

I'm also ordering the SIP headers and a mini-breadboard....

    Thanks!
