Hey,

Im trying to get the $GPRMC and $GPRMB sentence from my Garmin etrex vista. I need the True heading from the GPRMC and the waypoint heading from the GPRMB.
I'm using BS2p24 on a Board of Education. I set the etrex to NMEA 4800. I've been trying a bunch of codes to get it to show up on the debug, but nothing shows up. I need the True heading and waypoint headings degrees, but not the decimal.
I'm using it to true my rc car to multiple locations. All thats let to finish this is to get the gps's Nmea strings. THanks for any help.

There is a Nuts & Volts article which uses the BS2p24 to get the data from a GPS (Garmin I believe) and extract the necessary information. You can find the article at the following link. Code can be found at the second link.· I hope this helps. Take care.

Hey was there any particular reason you chose to use a self contained GPS (the Garmin) instead of parallax's GPS module? I was considering using a garmin for my purposes, but I really didnt need the lcd screen, or any of the user interface, I just need the GPS Navstar sentances just as you do. if it continues to be a problem for you you chould check the specs on the GPS module, especially if your using· abread board, It can transmit the raw continuous data (or user defined packets) your car would need to operate in real time over a long distance,·I dont know·if the garmin could do that? I imagine so though, well sorry though I have no real input as to your problem, if the garmin turns out to be too tough or immpossible for another reason check out the GPS module for sure

I picked the garmin because I found it for dirt cheap and I read a few site that user it. I also need to plot multiple waypoints.

hey Chris Savage I tried the where in the world is my basic stamp, I only got it to read out once then never again after.
