I cannot get the Board of Education with the BASIC Stamp 2 to work on my computer using the USB interface with Vista!!! Please help...I have tried http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=5&m=207836&r=x, I have tried lowering the BM latency timer to 1...I just cannot get this thing to work! When I click Run -> Identify, it shows yes for both Loopback and Echo, but it doesn't say BASIC Stamp 2, and when I try to run a program, it says BASIC Stamp not detected...I am using BASIC Stamp Editor v2.4, the number on my kit is 27807...my BS2 is revision J, and my BoE is revision C...I have all the updates for Vista (I am using Vista Home Premium)...Any help would be very much appreciated...Thanks...

Are you running off battery? Have you replaced the battery recently?

The Loopback and Echo status indicates that the USB to serial interface is working. The Identify status requires the Stamp to work. As allanlane5 indicated, the most common reason for a problem there is lack of power. The USB interface is powered by the USB, but the Stamp is notThe green LED should come on when there is power to the Stamp.. Occasionally people insert the Stamp backwards ... check that. The Stamps and Boards are tested before they leave Parallax, so a problem there is possible, but very unlikely.

I have tried replacing the battery, and the green light does come on...The Stamp was already inserted into the BoE when I opened the box, and it definitely looks like it's oriented in the right direction...

My BoE is mini-USB to USB...I have not tried using different USB ports yet; I'll try that right now, thanks...

Btw, the mini-USB to USB cable that I am using is the one that came in the box with the BoE and BASIC Stamp 2...

I've had a lot of problems with both Vista and WindowsXP installing an incorrect driver when the hardware is installed prior to installing the drivers.
