MGP monitor?
Has anyone tried to use a stamp or a propeller to come up monitor for MPG in a car?
All cars use something called OBD-II in the states.
You can plug into the OBD-II diagnostics port and query for various things.
Maybe a stamp and an display would work?
Some successful work using a laptop: http://www.windmill.co.uk/obd.html

Long ago, British cars used an electrical impulse-type petrol pump and they had no fuel return line. A friend built a circuit that counted the number of spark impulses per fuel pump impulse as well as the time per fuel pump impulse and came up with a dual display, fuel usage and fuel consumption. The actual displaed figures were arbitary but very interesting (most of our driving is in top gear so counting revs rather than wheel revolutions isn't as stupid as it seems).
