    Larry Sutherland,

Very interesting. I wonder what the power requirements are, and how well the user can articulate the other fingers. Being involved in robotic research particularly with prosthetics, there are several design obstacles that the industry has been working to overcome for decades, and Dean figures this out in a few months? Still... interesting.

this isnt a new practice, money is the most powerfull tool in any collection, curiosity the second and realisticly we all spill a secret or two in an avrage conversation but how many times have you got in a pinch to finish a project and needed money to continue -nothin a disscussion with a potential investor couldnt help but what if he listens and dosnt buy but waits untill you fail & loose intrest- only to develop your ideas to support what he has invented from the conversation ,we all use the work of others galilao, copernicus, asomov, einstien, all of us the one thing that distinguishes a good business man is his ability to listen to the ramblings of others and heed/remember what is usefull, just yesturday I saw a monkey feed himself a treat with a robotic arm from a link on this forum
im sure the guy developing that would like to see the link above, and I wander if his response would be the same, Now that is intresting. probably even to an angry one armed monkey.

    iamdenteddisk,

I absolutely agree, money is definitely the drive as well as intellect, but why not provide those kinds of government funds to a prosthetic facility already experienced with such obstacles and patient requirements? In the video above, I didn't see where the power source was, but to move an above elbow amputation or shoulder disarticulated arm like that you need a fair amount of power, and the prosthetic arm itself regardless of the battery would create a nice pendulum effect and become very heavy to the patient.
