Dead boe-bot

My BOT seems to be having problems. I have a 9V rechargable battery hooked to my bot. Ever since I hooked it up it has been doing something strange. When I try to turn it on the light is very very dim and the board does not function. Then while I was messing with the wires I accidently shorted the bot, and it lit up! So now when I want to turn on the bot on I have to short it, I don't know what is causing this and I have even changed batterys and hooked up a power supply. PLEASE HELP!

Whatever it is, this does not sound healthy *at all*. And if you are truly "shorting" your 'bot to turn it on, STOP until you figure out what's really going happening.

Did you assemble the 'bot from the instructions in the BOE-bot manual?

Are you using 4 AA batteries? or just a 9v battery?

Can you post a picture of your setup or describe in more detail what you have set up?

Rechargeable 9v batteries don't have much power for running a BOE-bot. Also, if you are using Vin (the "raw" battery power) to run your servos, depending on the specs of your 9v rechargeable, the voltage may be too for the servos.

It is the BOE-BOT robot kit model. It is just a simple digital camera battery battery that is hooked into the + and - of the bot. I have taken the battery off and hooked my variable power supply and set it to 9V on 2 amps and the board does nothing and I do not want to short it again. I am wondering if it could be the capacitors on the board?

What + and - are you talking about? The power "jack"? Vin? Where precisely are you connecting the battery? Is there a reason you didn't use 4 AA batteries in the standard issue battery holder that comes with the kit? Had you ever tried that? And if you did, what happened?

See above post: STOP applying power until you are sure of what you are connecting.
