OT - The upcoming Hanson Robotics 'Zeno' 'toy'
The Zeno robot 'toy'... Wow!!!
http://www.zenosworld.com/
I must live under a rock not to have heard about this until reading a recent issue of Servo...· Heck, I didn't even know about Hanson Robotics and the AI award winning Philip·K Dick robot.
For those like myself new to the topic, these are AI based robots focusing on facial expression and human interaction, but also includes 28 motors and complex movement.· The results are amazing.· The Zeno toy is apparently scheduled to be available next year at ~ $250.· Despite it's price and 'toy' status, Servo described the Zeno robot as almost 'scarey' smart, and one of the most advanced examples of it's kind.

Things like this almost make you think twice about how scfi things like 'The Terminator' or The Matrix really are.· Apparently even Stephen Hawking has commented on the subject...

I seriously doubt we will see matrix/terminator like computer based intelligence any time soon though. That being said, the best thing that could have happened for the field has, multicore processors. the more brain like computer hardware becomes, the easier it will be to program brains into them.
