Parallax BS Editor (2.4)

Hi All,

I've noticed that the Parallax BS Editor (2.4) allows positioning the cursor anywhere in the edit window, whether there is code on the line or not.· I'd prefer the cursor positoning to be limited by the end-of-line.

Does anyone know if there is a way to disable this action?· Yes, I've looked through any/all docs on the subject and haven't recognized a potential solution.

BTW - a side question - does anyone know if the BS Editor is a custom written application, or is it a modification of the SlickEdit development environment?· The modified SlickEdit app used at work has this same "position the cursor anywhere on the edit window" type of action., but it also has a preferences setting to disable this annoyance.

Thanks,

DJ

This seems to be the way Parallax does their editors. The Propeller Tool works the same way. There's no way to change it other than to change the editor itself. Both the Stamp Editor and the Propeller Tool's editor are custom written as far as I know.

    Mr. Green,

This action isn't a show stopper, although I spend an inordinate amount of time "aiming" my mouse cursor.· I just wonder why some editors are designed this way.

BTW - side question - as I'm new around here and a new user of BS products, do you know if Parallax has a direct line through which to ask questions like this editor issue?· Or do I post in this forum and wait for a Parallax rep to notice my questions?

One thing you'll find is that Parallax is a very customer-centric company... you can always send them an e-mail, but they are have several full time folks that closely monitor all the discussion threads, so no matter which way you go, you are sure to get a quick response. the key advantage of posting in the forums is for others to learn about the issues you are having (becuase they too may be wondering the same thing)!

Welcome aboard! You will have lots of fun here!

I have gotten into this habit using either the Stamp Editor or Prop Tool.

Click on a line - anywhere - then hit the END key on your keyboard. It puts you at the end of the actual line content - or the beginning if it is a "blank" line.

    Steve & Paul,

Steve - nice to hear the compliment concering Parallax's customer focus.· With the small interaction I've done so far, I'd agree with you.· And thanks for the welcome.· I haven't been so jazzed about tinkering in a long time; really looking forward to getting to know this product better.

Paul - you know, that's a really good idea!· (duh Dave - open palm forehead slap)· Thank you.
