It's possible to use 4 PING sensors, but you can't use them simultaneously because the return echos bounce around. If you trigger two or more PINGs at the same time or within the sensing "window", one PING could be fooled into using the signal from another PING and thinking that there's an obstacle closer than any actual wall or obstacle.
You could just mount one on a continuous rotation servo, and have it spin around, then use the servo position to know which direction it was recieved from. You will either have to find a way to make sliding contacts, or just reverse the rotation of the servo every 1-2 rotations, otherwise the wires to the ping would just wrap up. At any rate, it would look cool, like a spining radar array. Just need to aim it down a little if its on a mast, kinda depends on the design of your bot.
