Ok so i have been trying to fix this darn thing all day. The problem is that the BASIC Stamp Editor will not reconize the stamp. When i go to run then identify..., it shows the port and it also shows that the loopback and the echo says YES in both of the columns. 66450347er5.jpg
66450347er5.0b39b58d7a.jpg i have tried disabling the FIFO buffers but it still dose not work.

I am using a USB-to-serial portable adapter ( http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/StaplesProductDisplay?&storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&partNumber=597324&cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-Shopping-_-Technology_%3E_Cables,_Hubs,_Connectors_and_Switches_-_-597324-F5U409V1&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=597324 ) also i am using windows vista and the " What's a Microcontroller?" A basic Stamp kit. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2117994&cp=&pg=3&sr=1&origkw=kits&kw=kits&parentPage=search
Dose anyone have any solutions?

Usually this means that there's a communication problem between the Stamp and the PC. Often this is due to a problem with the USB to serial adapter, either the driver for the adapter is not installed properly or the adapter doesn't implement the handshake lines (particularly DTR) properly. Adapters that are known to work with the Stamps include pretty much anything using the FTDI chip. Also the Keyspan High Speed Adapter works. You have to install the manufacturer's driver. The built-in Windows driver doesn't work properly.

You can also get this behavior if there's no power to the Stamp.
