·· I would like to attach a LED to the HM55B compass module to see when information is being exchanged between it and the BS2. Can someone show me the connection to do this?

Do you want to see the actual exchange of information or simply that the BS2 is accessing the HM55B? The easiest thing is to take a red LED with a series 470 ohm resistor on the cathode end. Connect the anode end to Vdd (+5V) and the resistor to the /EN pin of the HM55B. When the BS2 selects the HM55B to access it, the LED will light.

If you want to monitor the data lines, you'll need some kind of buffer/driver for the LED.
