Best Sensor to use as a Float Controller...

Anyone have any advice on the best sensor to use as a water float controller? I would assume my options would be two reed switches, or a hall effect sensor. Do you think it is possible to try to get the analog output on a hall effect sensor and put it thru a adc? Any thoughts???
