How long will a Stamp last?
·Hi Folks,
··· A short time ago someone asked whether a Stamp could live a long and happy life in an industrial project. Several of us replied that we had some long-lived projects out there.
··· As luck would have it, one of my old customers tracked me down to lend a hand with a project we had put in service back in September of 2001. When I had a look at it, the problem was actually a burned out power supply which had been shorted by a "field added" piece of wire. Replaced the power supply, powered it up and away it went.
·· The system is a two-way radio link between a truck and a set of rock hoppers. It shows the truck driver which bin is filling up the most. Then, it allows the truck driver to remotely open the hopper doors to load his truck while staying safely within the cab.
··· I posted more about the project here a couple of years ago, but have added some new pics here.
··· So, despite vibration, rock, dust, water, heat and cold, the Stamp can survive!
·· Cheers,
···
