“No BASIC stamps found"

Help. I bought the The BASIC Stamp^® Activity Kit··and the new USB to Serial (RS-232) adapter. I am using a Sony
Vaio VGN- N130G laptop. I am trying to get started, but not having any luck. I typed in the first program:

' {$STAMP BS2}
' {$PBASIC 2.5}

DEBUG "Hello, it's me, your BASIC Stamp!"
END

when I click on run, a box comes up " No BASIC stamps found"
can someone help me.

Make sure that your laptop is configuring the serial port properly. It should be in your Device Manager as a USB Serial Port under Ports.

Another option would be to hook it up to another computer and see if it works there. Could be the Vaio acting up.

I've had so many problems with USB-Serial converters that I pretty much stick to native serial now.

This has come up many times in the past but there is no intuitave way to search for it here. You have to use another url to search and I don't remember what that is. I'm sure someone will come along and tell us.
