High Current voltage regulation

Good Morning All,

··· I am trying to find a way to regulate 12 VDC to 6 VDC @ 8 A.· This power source will be used for a pololu servo controller and 4 servos.· I found this article online, and think the idea will work.· Just wanted some input from the community·as well as ·any ideas, thank you.

Dropping 6 volts at 8 amps is (P = IV, 6 * 8 == 48 watts) a LOT of waste heat. An appropriate "switching" power-supply would be more efficient and generate less heat.

But given those caveats, this approach should work.
