EEPROM verify error

What could be causing this error when I try to download to eeprom?

"EEPROM verify error on COM 8."

More importantly, how can I fix it?· I can download fine to RAM and run the code just fine.· Just not to EEPROM (I checked, it isn't downloading correctly).

Thanks

Sometimes I get some errors, like you, writing to eeprom, with proptool 1.1 under vmware and macosx, I issue a second Download to eeprom to properly write it. Check that the eeprom is properly connected, pull-up resistor, correctly powered, pins grounded and bypass condensators are in place.

I'm using the Proto Board.· It was working great then just stopped.· I can't think of anything that I did to make it not work.

Did you reinstalled winblows, or updated drivers or something like that ? (For me all works with xp without any SP, in XP with SP2 well I get all kind of funny messages like propeller lost on com3, there is not roeller on com3, eeprom verify error, etc, very often, too often)

No, I didn't reinstall anything. I was downloading just fine and the next minute it stopped working. Strange. I have another proto board laying around I will try to download to when I get a chance.

    Thanks.

I think I remember somebody having that trouble and it turned out to be a power problem... How many volts are you feeding the proto board?

I tried two other proto boards and it downloads to the eeprom fine. I guess the eeprom got damaged somehow. I have no idea how though. Maybe it got shorted out or something, I don't know.

At least I have extras :)

I had the same trouble some weeks ago. I did program the eeprom on another board with a test program, but the program was not started on the problem board.

I did measure all pins on the eeprom with voltmeter and also with ohmmeter but all seems ok. That was very strange for me, but the eeprom could not be the problem while it was working on the other board.

Then I resoldered all eeprom pins again and the problem was fixed. Perhaps this will also help you. Good luck!
