I came across a schematic to build a BS4 can someone tell me what the difference is between this and BS1 & 2 , and would it be a good choice for programming?

The BS4 is three more than the BS1 and two more than the BS2. No seriously could you post the schematic you came across so others could see what you are talking about?

    DeShark -

Any BS-4 you may have found is NOT a Parallax product. That means it will NOT be supported by Parallax.

You may or may not get help from some of the forum members, BUT a post like this needs to be posted in the Sandbox area of this Parallax Forum. It will probably be moved if you don't delete it, and post the same message in the Sandbox area.

Involvement and committment can be best understood by looking at a plate of ham and eggs. The chicken was involved, but the pig was committed. ANON

BS/4 is a Parallax Stamp clone. Someone else has come up with a Basic interpreter based on the Basic dialect used by Parallax and using a similar hardware platform. There are several Parallax Stamp clones out there. They're not exact duplicates because the Basic interpreter is proprietary and very hard to steal. As with any clone, you have no idea as to its quality, performance, reliability, etc. You would have to compare the documentation of the BS/4 with that of the BS1 & BS2 to see what the similarities and differences are. As far as "good choice for programming" is concerned, that depends on your needs. Parallax products are well supported. There is a tremendous amount of educational information on their use.

    FWIW -

Dontronics in Australia sells the BS-4, and it's clearly stated that it's NOT a Parallax product.
