Order Assistance Requested Please

I have a old 3pin BS1 and want to use a USB cable (no other ports are available)
and I'm running XP.

I think I'll need the following:

A USB cable
A USB to serial (RS-232) adapter
BS1 serial adapter

Please advise if this is OK.

You need:
#27111 Basic Stamp 1 Serial Adapter $4.95
#28031 Parallax USB to Serial (RS232) Adapter with USB cable $17.95

This is what I've used with the Stamp Editor under Windows XP to program a BS1.
Be sure to install the current version of FTDI's Windows XP I/O drivers.

Thanks... I'm trying to get an old laptop today because my project is
ready and I really don't like waiting for parts which would be into
next week.

It's very sad nobody built a integrated USB port onto the BSs.
Only because USBs are very, very popular. My new >$1,000 laptop doesn't
even have a serial port... which is to say serial ports are on their way out.
