IR Transmitter Location with Ping Mounted

Hey guys, I am having trouble getting good data from my IR's because of the Ping mounting kit. When the Ping head rotates right or left, it hits the IR transmitters and sometimes the pin for the IR Diode becomes loose. I was thinking of cutting a piece of a breadboard that·I don't use and stick it·to the side of the Boe-Bot, and then mount my IR's.

Is this something acceptable or there are better suggestions!!! Please, any advice or comment would be appreciated.
