Hi Guys,

Just wanted to know..is it safe to test the Basic Stamp outputs with a CRT Oscilloscope.

    The scope should have high impedance inputs so will be safe to use.
    The danger can come with multiple input/trace scopes where a short can inadvertantly be put on a circuit when using more than one probe at a time.
    A lot of modern scopes have isolated inputs to stop this happening although the O'scope spec doesnt specify isolated inputs so if you have a dual trace version with two inputs then be careful how you attach the probes in order to avoid shorts as it may not have isolated ground connections this is especially important if your circuits involve different voltages, for instance your basic stamp circuit is used to control a mains powered part of your circuit.

    Suppose I want to use the Understanding signals Lessons with the CRT-Oscope. Is it advisable to use the analog Scope rather than using a Digital Scope.

    choice is determined by what is being sampled, if signals are very fast then cost can come into it when choosing a digital scope
