Did you look at the schematic for the PropClip? There are some additional connections, mostly grounds, that are not shown on the Demo Board schematic. If it were me, I would crosscheck with the FTDI schematics and make sure it all makes sense. You really need to do this kind of crosschecking yourself. If you don't know enough to do it yourself, stick with assembled and tested devices. There are all kinds of ready-to-go serial adapters from FTDI and others that have the serial adapter chip and all the support circuitry and USB connector.

The FTDI chips have a host of optional features, if that feature isn't used it is left unconnected. For example there are pins to drive LEDs for both RX and TX activity. If your project has no·need to show activity the you don't need to include them in your circuit.

Yes you are right I do check, but I was not to comfortable so i figured i would ask. I guess it takes time to gain confidence in ones abilities and my confidence is yet still growing. I don't have an engineering degree per say, but i am the engineer at my employment. My mistakes often are stupid overlooked details, in turn a confidence killer. I am in debt for all of you here, my teachers. I thank you all and if it were possible i would buy the first round of drinks. tongue.gif
