collecting data

Have seen a program called stamp plot, was wondering if the boe bot can collect positional data, or sensor readings while it is moving. Then this info needs to be stored somewhere or transmitted back to my laptop.
Preparing to purchase some goodies from Parallax, wheel encoders and ping sensor. Got me to thinking about seeing what boe sees and whether this would make programming adjustments easier than trial and error.

Can a thumb drive be mounted on the boe to collect the info? Anyone have any other suggestions?

Have had the boe for a while, but just retired and now have more time for playing around while my wife is at work. Since she likes seeing me use the old brain, this also is better than doing house husband chores.

Thanks for any help you can give.

DEBUG "Welcome to the world of application specific intergrated circuits...."

"What's a Microcontroller?" Chapter 7 activity#2 introduces Stamp Plot Lite (measuring and graphing light levels)

Also, read: - 5: BASIC stamp command reference - DEBUG pg 163 , in Basic Stamp Syntax and Reference Manual ...
    - 5: BASIC stamp command reference - EEPROM pg 183
It is very important to understand.....

This is a good start and keep you busy!

Sometimes I have to do a coulpe honey do's just to take a break from this.

You might also look at the PLX-DAQ Real-Time Data Acquisition for Microsoft Excel that is offered in the downloads section at
    http://www.parallax.com/ProductInfo/Microcontrollers/BASICStampSoftware/tabid/441/Default.aspx
I bought the Boe-Bot for the Microsoft Robotics Studio, which included the eb500 bluetooth adaptor. With a Linksys USB connector on my pc I've been able to capture data from sensors on the Boe-Bot and feed it directly into an Excel spreadsheet.

I have an example posted at:

    http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=716172

It's a little different than a Boe-Bot with the eb500, as I was using a Basic Stamp2 OEM and the eb501-ser. You would need to change the pin assingments for the eb500, but the eb501-ser uses the same command structure (they are both made by A7Eng).

Thank you for the info. I have a question. I noticed the board which holds STAMP plugs into the breadboard and I would like
to make one too. Could you send info?

    Thank you

That's a basic stamp OEM you can find them at:
    http://www.parallax.com/Store/Microcontrollers/BASICStampOEM/tabid/135/CategoryID/10/List/0/SortField/0/Level/a/ProductID/21/Default.aspx
They come in both an assempled and kit form. I bought the kit, since it was a little cheaper and took less than an hour to solder together.

Thanks for the input guys. I will do some more reading. Did find a data logger at the Parallax store, so my hope is this will solve this problem. It helps a lot.
