Digital to Nanlog Conversion

I have a project where I must control 3 different colored halogen lamps, so that I can regulate their intensity. I have therefore been looking for a digital-to-analog converter, but have instead found the PWM command in conjunction with a Resistor and a capacitor to form at basic analog output, which makes me wonder if I can use that for controlling halogen light?
·
I have made diagram of my proposed wiring for each of the three lamps. Will this work? And if so how do I calculate the values of C1 & R1?
·
Any input is very much appreciated

There maybe something else that you can use if you are going to use a transformer to power your ·halogen lights
Now the people at·EFX Tek have a.......>>>>· intelligently control the brightness level of 120 VAC [incandescent] lamps, the FC-4 is an excellent solution. Sophisticated brightness and cross-fading commands are available using a simple·BS2 ·controller
This board is very easy to use and control
http://www.efx-tek.com/topics/fc-4.html
YOU·WILL DO THIS AT YOUR ON RISK
··········· Now it is made for 120 volts AC·····
············
············································································ HOW EVER·you can·MOFITY this board to work on 12 Volts AC·
I also USED A· TWO AMP FUSE ON THE 12 Volt side of transformer just in case something went wrong I was using a ten amp transformer
this was used to test one MR16 bulb at first when test 4 i used six amp fuse
I modify one of the board to·run my Low Voltage Lighting (Fade Controller this is the FC4 board·)·with a Time Controller all in one Project
I test this set up for about 20 hours OFF and ON and there seem to be no problem with this set up so far· testing this setup··was as follows
·FADE UP then then FADE DOWN this was done Basic Stamp 2 in a Loop this how·I tested the 12 volt setup using··four 50 watt MR16 bulbs
The reason that·I have not completed this project is because··I was working on a Lighting·Control Timer for part of this project that·I just finished working on·
·I have two of these boards one that i modify and one i did not this to
There is a WARNING about you·doing this or any·one else doing this YOU WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY·On this·FC4·board if you do this
Here is the post where i was warned about this http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=676823
I was warned about this when I ask if this board would work on 12 volt
So before· modifying this board run the board the way it is set up and learn how to control it the way you want first then change the 120 volt setup to 12 volt setup
If· you need any other help with this just PM me

Thanks for the link - it looks interesting for 120VAC, but at bit of an overkill for just 12-24V DC. So I might be able to use it for other projects requiring wall power AC ( but then I would have ·to convert it for 220VAC in here in Europe).
But if I can do it the way I propose, then ·that will be simpler and a lot cheaper, so I hope someone can look at my diagram
