When trying to load code onto the basic stamp I receive this message. "No basic stamp found".

I'm using a BS2e controller.
USB to Serial Device. I have turned off Fifo
I have checked the power supply, DC adaptor ~ 9v
Both loopback and echo are "yes"

What should I try next?

    Hi,

Is the LED lighting when you switch the power on? - If not the 9Vdc may be reverse polarity.

Is the USB comms link LED flashing when you try to download a program form PC into the STAMP? If not maybe a cable fault.

IF both of the above are correct one last check from the manual is - check the STAMP is installed the right way?

I'm using an OEM chip with a breadboard.

I have checked the voltage across the Vin and Vss pins and it is correct.

The USB is working properly, it receives and echo and loopback from the serial port.

An OEM design using the interpreter by default would have no VIN connection. What pin are you calling VIN and what voltage are you connecting there? Where does this voltage come from? Not all USB adapters are equal. Many don’t support the BASIC Stamps due to poor support of the handshaking lines. You could even have issues with the resonator or reset circuit. Without a diagram of what you have connected there won’t be much information we can provide.

You realize the OEM chip needs an external eeprom of the correct partnumber to work, right?

I was mistaken when I said I have an OEM chip, I just was trying to say that I don't have one of the development boards. I am using the standard BS2e chip, I am just interfacing with it through a breadboard

The fact that echo and loopback are working doesn't mean the USB adapter is working properly. The DTR handshake line still has to work to reset the Stamp at the proper time for the download to work. Not all USB to serial adapters implement the DTR line properly. What adapter are you using. Most of those that use the FTDI chip work fine and the Keyspan High Speed serial adapter works as well.

    Not to thread hijack, but...
    Exact same problem -
    I'm using a Sabrent SBT-USC1K
It was uber cheap, and now I'm starting to think its the problem.

    Thanks
