How do I use this thing?!?!

Hey people,

I just bought an 8-bit A/D converter from Hobby Engineering. Here's the link to the datasheet:

http://info.hobbyengineering.com/specs/NATSEMI-ADC0831.pdf

Mine is the ADC0831. I plan to use it to convert the analog signal from a Sharp IR ranger to a digital signal for the propeller to read. I've never used one before, and I assumed that there would be a simple "input and output" setup, but I guess not... lol Can anyone tell me how to hook this up to do so?

Thanks,
Robofreak

Download the "Basic Analog and Digital" tutorial and look at Chapter #3.

Mike is referring to the Basic Analog and Digital course that is part of the·Stamps in Class·Education program. Take a look here - http://www.parallax.com/Store/Education/KitsandBoards/tabid/182/ProductID/307/List/1/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductName,ProductName
You will find a link to the pdf of the book. Download it and take a look at the Chapter that Mike references. As always, Mike knows his stuff.

Good luck! Good to hear from you Robofreak.
