can we have a domain name for the pink module to access?

hi .,,,


if we have to access the pink module jumpin.gif we have to type the ip address if the pink module ,

so i need actually is can we our own domain name like instead of ip address i can access pink module by www.xxxx.com in my own college lan is it possible smilewinkgrin.gif


any method available ?

pls inform me

its only in my lan which consists of 400 systems

    Of course it is possible. There are numerous ways to do this. Do you want a real domain (accessible over the internet?) or just a local hostname that you can use within your LAN?

    If you want just a LAN hostname then you can try to see if you can get a local hostname/dns entry added to your local dns server. This method will require that your LAN have a local dns server.

    You can also spend about $6 USD on a real domain name and just point it to an internal LAN ip. This is method is much easier than the above, but it does require your LAN to have internet access so you can access external dns servers.

    I would recommend you read up on dns and domain names. If your network has an IT department then it would probably be best to ask them if they can do this for you. It is very difficult to give you an exact 'how to' without knowing your exact network setup.
