Javelin on COM1 did not respond
Hi,
I just wanted to share my experiences on this one, proud as I am that I found the solution·![cool.gif](http://forums.parallax.com/images/smilies/cool.gif)
I started to construct my own experiment board for the Javelin stamp, but I got stuck getting the "Javelin on COM1 not responding" error message.
I connected the power and COM as per schematic on page 14 of the Javelin manual, and checked and double-checked my connections, to no avail.
When I did an "identify" from the IDE, I got a yes for the loopback, and a no for "echo' and 'got status'.
A bit of searching on the web got me to the schematic of the original Javelin Stamp Demo board, and·I noticed that the connections differ from the schematics in the manual :
- pin 3 of the Javelin is not directly connected to pin 4 of the DB9 connector, but via a 0.1 microFarad capacitance
- pin 4 of the DB9 connector is connected via a 0.1 microFarad capacitance to Ground (Vss).
After adapting my connections like this, it worked perfectly.

i couldn't find the URL for the schematic anymore, but I scanned it and added it in attachment.
Note : I found out that this error was coorected in the errata for the manual.
