Frequency out....

Hi all,

I want to measure temperature (PT100) with the BS2, show it on a display and send it out as continuous frequency signal (square wave, 0/15 V, 0..100 degrees=0..10 kHz)
Anyone an idea how to create this continuous frequency output with the BS2?

You can't do it with just the BS2. The Stamp is a single processor without interrupts and can only do one thing at a time. Whenever you measure the temperature or output to the display, you will interrupt the production of the frequency signal. You will need some kind of co-processor to produce the square wave. The easiest to use would be the PWMPAL (www.parallax.com/Store/Microcontrollers/BASICStampModules/tabid/134/txtSearch/pwmpal/List/1/ProductID/67/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductName%2cProductName).

A cheaper solution would be to use a 555 timer and a logarithmic digital pot to set the frequency, but you won't get the same resolution.
